Head of Operational Excellence & Project Delivery

This strategic role sits at the core of that transformation, combining hands-on project management with global leadership in Lean and Six Sigma practices.
Reporting to the EVP Operations, the postholder will lead cross-functional initiatives across our global Operations organization, delivering measurable improvements in cost, quality, delivery, and safety. The ideal candidate brings proven experience in project delivery, a strong grasp of Lean methodologies, and the ability to influence and engage stakeholders across multiple sites and functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Alignment & Planning
- Translate business objectives into a clear portfolio of improvement and transformation projects.
- Prioritise initiatives that support cost reduction, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Align projects and lean programs with wider business strategy, ensuring consistency across global sites.
- Act as a global subject matter expert for lean and six sigma, embedding common standards, tools, and practices to enhance operational efficiency.
Project Delivery
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, ensuring clear objectives, milestones, and deadlines.
- Lead and coordinate cross functional teams across manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and quality.
- Allocate resources effectively and manage project budgets, ensuring financial accountability.
- Ensure all projects meet business objectives, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Identify and prioritise improvement opportunities using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Facilitate Kaizen events, value stream mapping sessions, and structured problem-solving workshops.
- Deliver measurable improvements in OEE, lead time, cost reduction, quality and safety.
- Coach and mentor colleagues in Lean principles, building capability and sustaining improvements
- Promote a culture of operational discipline, continuous improvement, and accountability across sites.
Reporting, Compliance & Governance
- Provide structured governance, reporting, and risk management to ensure projects are delivered on time and in full.
- Maintain detailed documentation, KPIs and performance reports for all projects.
- Drive transparency and accountability across project teams through robust reporting.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, quality standards, and company policies.
- Support capital expenditure requests, ensuring alignment with financial and strategic planning.
Qualifications and Training:
- Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant technical or operational discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement, Lean/Six Sigma, and project management roles, ideally within manufacturing.
- Formal qualification in project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, APMP, Agile).
- Formal Lean/Six Sigma certification (Black Belt desirable).
- Experience in Change Management, ideally in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Proven expertise in project planning, budgeting, and risk management.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering measurable improvements in cost, quality and delivery.
